You don’t have to navigate cancer alone.

Nurse-led education and navigation support for people facing cancer and the caregivers who love them.

Cancer throws information, appointments, and emotions at you all at once.

My role is to walk beside you, helping you make sense of the process, prepare for conversations with your care team, and feel more grounded as you move through each phase of care.

This support exists alongside your oncology care, not in place of it.

You were never meant to manage all of this by yourself.

A cancer diagnosis can come with a flood of information, appointments, decisions, and questions, often before you've had time to process what is happening.

You may find yourself:

• overwhelmed by medical language and information
• worried about whether you're asking the right questions
• trying to keep track of appointments, paperwork, and next steps
• exhausted from trying to be strong for everyone else
• searching online late at night and feeling more anxious afterward
• wondering how you're supposed to keep all of this organized

You shouldn't have to figure it all out on your own.

Northbound Roots gives you dedicated time, education, and navigation support to help you feel more informed, prepared, and grounded as you move through cancer care.

Desk With Notebook

Wherever you are in your cancer journey, support can look different.

I work with individuals and caregivers across key phases of care

New Diagnosis – “What does all of this mean?”

We focus on making sense of the information you're receiving, preparing for appointments, and organizing your questions so you can feel more informed and prepared for what comes next.

Active Treatment – “How do I get through this?”

Support centers on navigating the day-to-day realities of treatment, preparing for conversations with your care team, staying organized as things change, and feeling more supported between appointments.

Transition & Survivorship – “What happens now?”

When active treatment slows down or ends, we focus on navigating uncertainty, preparing for follow-up and surveillance conversations, organizing the next phase of care, and adjusting to life when appointments and treatment are no longer the center of everything.

What working together actually looks like.

This is not a course you're left to figure out on your own, and it is not medical care. It is private, nurse-led support with clear roles, boundaries, and expectations.

  • Step 1 – Apply for Support

    • Complete a short application so I can learn where you are in your cancer journey, what kind of support you're looking for, and whether Northbound Roots may be a good fit.

  • Step 2 – Connection Call

    • If Northbound Roots appears to be a good fit, we'll meet for a complimentary 30-minute connection call to talk through where you are, what feels most overwhelming, and which level of support may fit your needs.

  • Step 3 – Begin Your Program

    • Once you choose the program that's right for you, we'll begin with a private one-on-one session and your program resources. From there, you'll have ongoing nurse-led education and navigation based on the structure of your program.

  • Step 4 – Navigate With Ongoing Support

Throughout your program, we'll use our time together to help you stay organized,            prepare for appointments and conversations, better understand the care process, and    navigate questions and next steps with greater clarity. As your needs or stage of care change, we'll talk about what kind of support may be helpful next.

Who is this for?

My work is for people who want informed, personalized support from someone who understands oncology, respects the role of their medical team, and helps them feel more prepared and less alone.

This may be for you if:

  • you’ve recently been diagnosed and feel overwhelmed by everything coming at you

  • you’re in treatment and want consistent support between appointments

  • you want help preparing for appointments, organizing questions, and understanding the information you receive

  • you’re transitioning out of active treatment and wondering what comes next

  • you’re a caregiver trying to support someone you love while keeping track of everything

  • you value clear education, preparation, and having a consistent person in your corner

This is not for you if:

  • you’re looking for medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment recommendations

  • you need urgent or emergency medical support

  • you’re looking for someone to assess or interpret symptoms, scans, or laboratory results

  • you’re looking for someone to replace your oncologist or other healthcare providers

Northbound Roots works alongside your oncology team, not in place of it. My role is to provide education, navigation, preparation, organization, and support throughout the cancer experience.

 Meet your guide

Hi, I’m Allyson, BSN, RN, OCN, founder of Northbound Roots.

I’m an oncology-certified registered nurse with more than a decade of experience across nursing and care management, including inpatient oncology, outpatient oncology management, survivorship planning, new diagnoses, treatment complications, and complex healthcare navigation.

Throughout my work, I’ve seen how quickly people can become overwhelmed by everything that happens outside the exam room, the information to remember, questions to ask, appointments to prepare for, and uncertainty about what comes next.

I created Northbound Roots to help bridge that gap by giving individuals facing cancer and their caregivers dedicated time, education, and navigation support alongside their existing oncology care.

I’m here to help you:

  • make sense of the information you’re receiving

  • organize questions and prepare for appointments

  • prepare for conversations with your care team

  • stay organized as your care changes

  • feel more informed, prepared, and supported throughout the process

You don’t have to figure this out alone.

Whether you’re at the very beginning, in the middle of treatment, or navigating life after treatment, you deserve support that is calm, clear, and informed by oncology experience.

You don’t need to know which program is right for you before reaching out. Start with a brief application so I can learn where you are and what kind of support you’re looking for. If Northbound Roots appears to be a good fit, we’ll talk through your options during a complimentary connection call.
